PROJECTS | WILD IDEAS BRANDING, BOOK COVER ART, FOR THE REDEMPTION SERIES, SOCIAL MEDIA
CLIENT | NANCY JACKSON
CLIENT LOCATION | Oklahoma, US
PRAISE FROM THE CLIENT |
Client and author Nancy Jackson was creating a new book series and was looking for full-color dust jacket designs for each book in the Redemptions series and Choices Like Rivers, as well as accompanying eBooks, audiobooks, and social media graphics. The goal for the Redemption Series covers was a cohesive aesthetic for the series as a whole while attributing to each cover its own unique design, relevant to the title and story. Each cover was to feature a grayscale background with imagery relevant to the story, and in vivid color, the element represented in the title (Blood, Water, and Fire, respectively.)
WILD IDEAS PRESS
As the Client is also a self-publishing author, she was looking for a logo/brand for the publishing arm of her business, which also serves as a resource for other authors looking to self-publish. The name "Wild Ideas Press" brought to the Client's mind a light bulb, so this imagery was created in a warm yellow, complete with a simplified version of radiating light in the outer lines and coupled with a "typewriter" style font as a nod to the nature of the business of Wild Ideas Press.
A library of digital media was created for The Fire, The Water, The Blood, and Choices Like Rivers respectively, as well as for the Redemption Series and the collection as a whole. The purpose was to provide the Client with imagery appropriate for posting updates on social media outlets such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as well as the Client's author website. Revised jackets for eBooks and audiobooks were also created as requested.
The Fire & The Water
The second and third installments in the Redemption series needed to maintain the same aesthetic and overall theme as the first novel, The Blood. Imagery depicting appropriate landscapes within Oklahoma that fit the narrative of the respective stories was overlaid against a light background. The vibrant water and fire visuals for each novel contrast vividly with the faded landscapes, creating a consistent 'mantel' above the title. The artwork was carried through the spine and back cover of each hardcover dustjacket.
